After a few little hiccups in post production, our second Ask The Expert webinar recording is now available for viewing – this time interviewing Brady Hamilton, honors student at Deakin University who has piloted the Pesticide Watch program during 2023.
WaterWatch volunteers, community members and schools (including some of our own River Detectives schools) have been involved in collecting water samples from waterways during the year for analysis by Brady in the lab.
Balancing the needs of a world that needs feeding with the environmental health of our waterways is a delicate issue that will need the best brains working on it into the future. The widespread use of pesticides to enable that food production presents a conundrum that Brady outlines very clearly in this 45 minute recording suitable for middle primary – secondary students.
Watch it as a whole or watch it in instalments, now or any time in the future, using this link or from the Dive Deeper tab on the River Detectives website. It is sure to start very interesting conversations and inspire thought about sustainable agriculture, future career pathways and innovative solutions.
