Hi all, today was the date to submit your content for inclusion in our interview with Meg Humphrys, author of Wave of Change but to date we have received nothing from our 100 schools.
This tells me what I suspected – that you are all super busy however now that I’ve extended the date until Friday it does provide an opportunity for some of you out there who may be able to spare half an hour to show your students the online reading of Meg’s book and gather some thoughts from students. I have three copies of her book to give away so you’d be likely to snag a copy.
Student thoughts could be:
- questions for Meg about her book, her work or climate change
- reflections about how the book / issue of climate change makes you feel
- ideas about how we can combat climate change
We don’t have to share thoughts from students but it would make the interview more engaging.
See below for my original post:
Do you love our watery places?
Are you concerned about the way our water resources are changing?
Do you have ideas about how to help?
Climate Change can be a tricky topic to navigate with students and can leave them feeling powerless but we are here to help.
We are very excited to have the opportunity to chat to author, illustrator and sustainability advisor to the water sector, Meg Humphrys. Meg is passionate about using art and story to explore science. Her two books, When Water Lost Her Way and Wave Of Change do this beautifully and are excellent resources to complement your River Detectives learning.
Meg will help us explore what is happening to our watery places, the knock-on effects of this and how we can all help.
Take a look at this invite with your students and access a link to our brand new online reading of Meg’s book – the focus of this session – Wave Of Change. Experiencing the book together will tune in students and help them collate questions / reflections and ideas for Meg.
We want to empower students so we’d really like the content of the interview to be direction by them.
To meet your diverse needs this session will NOT be live online but recorded. The interview recording will take place on Wednesday 6th November. The webinar will then be available on the River Detectives website as a flexible option to view on demand when the time is right for your learning.
Get your content in by Tuesday 29th October – your students will be delighted to hear their names mentioned and your school could WIN one of three copies of Wave Of Change generously donated by Meg.
