Do you have a dam at school, home or in your community that could be doing more?
Recently, we were thrilled to interview Professor David Lindenmayer from ANU about how to make the most of the many dams that are dotted across our rural and urban landscapes. These water bodies have untapped potential to serve, not only as valuable water storages or stock watering points, but as biodiversity hot spots to provide much-needed habitat to native fauna.
Thankyou to the River Detectives students of St Joseph’s PS Kerang (North Central CMA region), Tawonga PS (North East CMA region) and Timboon P-12 (Corangamite CMA region) for submitting insightful questions.
The webinar recording is now available as a resource you can use with your students when the time is right. It’s a really positive topic that offers simple things we can all do to make the most of the dams we have. A dam renovation is an opportunity to involve families in River Detectives learning and a potential project idea for your school to team up with a local Landcare group. . . . plenty of food for thought.
The webinar recording can be found in the Dive Deeper tab of the River Detectives website for registered RD schools (login required) or on the North Central CMA’s youtube channel for community members.
Enjoy! And let us know if and how you use the information . . .
