We’ve been very busy behind the scenes this year updating and revamping the River Detectives website to make it the ‘one-stop-shop’ required to support you in implementing engaging cross-curricular river health activities with your students.
The website will always be a work in progress but we are really pleased with how it is coming along.
We’ve listened to your feedback and when you next visit the website you may notice;
- a HUGE increase in content within the Resource Riverbank tab; maps, posters, videos, stories and games to ignite conversation, illustrate content and explore topics; lesson plans, activity sheets, links to other websites and organisations and fact sheets to assist your planning and delivery.
- more regionally specific content (you can search resources by topic, type, suitable age group or region).
- the Resource Riverbank tab is accessible by anyone in the community and is a great portal for student research
- our ever growing collection of activity matrices are now stored in the Dive Deeper tab (requires your password to access) They can be downloaded and shared with students/colleagues.
- the Let’s Test and Record tab has been streamlined with the main resources you need to test water quality, sample water bugs or conduct habitat surveys now available by clicking on the relevant heading (habitat survey section still in progress)
- a link to more detailed information about the program on the home page for other schools in your area who may be interested in joining up
We continue to adapt the website to make it as user-friendly and relevant as possible. We welcome content suggestions anytime – contact your regional River Detectives coordinator or email riverdetectives@nccma.vic.gov.au
